Summary

Client Representative - Select Business Unit (Minneapolis)


We are currently seeking an individual to fill a full-time position within our Select Business Unit as a Client Representative. This individual will work independently on a renewal book of small accounts. This includes the marketing and placement of renewal accounts and all additional tasks included in the daily servicing of accounts. Job Summary:

Provide quality risk consulting services to Howalt+McDowell Insurance clients from a safety and compliance perspective. Responsibilities include developing risk management strategies based on a consultative model, performing policy/system/environment assessments, providing client employee training, developing written policies & procedures, supporting client safety personnel, documenting activity and keeping abreast of federal guidelines & regulations.   • Review existing policies & procedures to determine compliance with various agencies such OSHA or DOT, as well as requirements of insurance companies.
  • Provide loss-causing information to customers and producers using loss information, photographs, data, graphs, and the workers compensation experience modification worksheet.
  • Provide alternative approaches and risk prevention/reduction suggestions in order for customers to better implement safety and loss prevention programs/strategies.

  • Develop effective business relationships with assigned clients through day-to-day services assistance. Act as the liaison between client and vendors/carriers to resolve issues.

  • Prepare renewal binders, proposals, and spreadsheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Must have a general understanding of compliance and regulatory issues impacting employee benefit programs for example ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, COBRA.
  • Analyze, prioritize and interpret information drawing accurate conclusions with minimal guidance.
  • Responsible for updating Agency Management Systems and customer paper and computer files.
  • Stay informed regarding technical knowledge, market trends, company information and other operating techniques and pass along information as necessary.
  • Monitor and review client plan contracts, documents, SPD’s, SMM’s and annual enrollment communication to ensure compliance with Federal and State law.

Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

The Account Director has overall responsibility for the client relationship within their assigned book-of-business. Summary

The Client Executive will work closely with producers and clients to develop effective employee benefit strategies and programs. Responsibilities include serving as the primary internal point of contact and will work closely with assigned clients to form effective business relationships through proactive client service, managing renewals, and ongoing problem resolution.

Essential Functions:

PROACTIVE CLIENT SERVICE

          • Develop effective business relationships with assigned clients in conjunction with producer through in-person visits, entertainment opportunities, telephone and electronic contact at multiple levels within client organization.
          • Act as primary contact for all day-to day service issues and other inquiries for all assigned clients; act as liaison between client and vendors/carriers to resolve issues and identify process improvement opportunities.
          • Manage client PREVENT Service Plan with corresponding activities and deliverables in conjunction with producer.
          • Review internal compliance and client disclosure requirements, external vendor/carrier contracts, summary plan documents (SPD's) and employee communications to ensure alignment with client expectations and legal requirements in conjunction with producer.
          • Develop strong understanding of health & welfare benefit products, services, technical tools, and vendor/carrier markets. Includes developing relationships with vendors/carriers in order to understand and compare products and services being offered and recommend solutions to clients.
          • Perform claims and utilization analysis to look for trends and patterns; may involve use of Decision Master Warehouse and actuarial tools to develop claims projections, set rates and model employee cost-sharing scenarios in conjunction with producer and Health Management Consultant.
          • Request Schedule A information and coordinate the preparation of Form 5500 filing. Manage implementation of new business. Oversee implementation project plan and facilitate internal/external resources, communications and meetings.

MANAGING CLIENT RENEWALS/MARKETING

          • Analyze carrier reports, benefit plan structures, plan design and industry trends and make appropriate benefit plan recommendations in conjunction with producer.
          • Prepare client renewals and negotiate rates with carriers in conjunction with producer, and present alternate benefit options when appropriate.
          • Conduct marketing of benefit plans when necessary; negotiate rates with carriers in conjunction with producer, and present alternate benefit options when appropriate.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required; in-depth working knowledge of employee benefit plans with 3+ years of industry experience and demonstrated relationship management skills with 2+ years of client management responsibilities. Experience managing, implementing and renewing small and large group health & welfare plans including medical, dental, ancillary, FSA and COBRA plans.
