DOL LogoUpdate: OSHA delays electronic reporting requirement

In May 2016, OSHA announced a new reporting rule requiring employers to submit the information from their 300A form electronically. The submission deadline for the first transmittal was set to be July 1, 2017.

However, OSHA has delayed this requirement, announcing it is not accepting electronic submissions of injury and illness logs at this time.

OSHA’s intent is to propose extending the July 1, 2017 submission deadline. Updates regarding the electronic reporting requirement will be posted on OSHA’s website as they come available.

Update - June 27, 2017: OSHA invites the public to comment on the proposed deadline extension. Comments may be submitted electronically at, the Federal e-Rulemaking Portal, or by mail or facsimile. See the Federal Register notice for details. The deadline for submitting comments is July 13, 2017.
