The long-awaited Senate version of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) was released this morning. The bill proposes many significant changes to the ACA, but perhaps most notably it removes the penalties associated with the individual and employer mandates. In other words, the law would still require individuals to have coverage and require Applicable Large Employers to offer coverage to full time employees, but there would be no consequence for ignoring those requirements.
We will update this blog post as we continue analyzing the bill. The Senate is expected to vote on the AHCA in the next few days.
