Andy Thome majored in Finance at Western Michigan University. He began his career as a Surety Bond Underwriter with Aetna Casualty and Surety Company.
Over the next four years, he was exposed to the financial performance and inner workings of thousands of commercial and construction clients while making credit decisions regarding the extension of surety capacity.
In 1988, Thome joined J.W. Terrill with the
challenge and responsibility of building a surety department. Over the last twenty five years J.W. Terrill has grown to be the largest surety provider in the St. Louis area as well as earning a national reputation for surety prowess.
In 2002 Thome assumed responsibilities as President of J.W. Terrill while still maintaining client relationships and surety responsibilities. In 2005 Thome assumed the additional role as Chief Executive Officer of J.W. Terrill, Inc.
Thome is active in many civic and philanthropic activities. He serves on the board of Pedal the Cause, an annual bike challenge with 100% of its proceeds funding cancer research at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Thome is a member of the Regional Business Council, and serves on RBC’s It’s Our Region Fund committee. He is also a member of the Advisory Board at Commerce Bank.
Andy and his wife Julie have four children and reside in St. Louis.
