Bruce Smith is the Vice President of Business Development for the Upper Midwest Region of Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA).
Bruce has 25 + years of professional service consulting and brokerage expertise in areas ranging from Health & Benefit consulting to Enterprise Risk Management.
He is experienced in addressing complex business issues via solutions that utilize risk consulting, insurance brokerage risk transfer, human resource consulting and business communication. Business issues frequently discussed include: Enterprise risk, Hazard risk, Employee benefit strategies, Employee productivity/absence management, Cost reduction strategies, Risk technology and Risk financing.
Prior to his current role as VP of Business Development, he was Managing Director and a Senior Vice President at Marsh with responsibility for both Marsh’s Sales and Consulting Practices. Prior to joining Marsh, Bruce spent five years at Mercer as a human resource consultant assisting clients in the development of strategies and programs to meet their
overall human resource needs. Bruce has also spent six years with two major U.S. insurance companies where his responsibilities included sales, marketing, and refining products from financial, plan design, and quality perspectives.
Now, Bruce leads March & McLennan Agency’s Upper Midwest (UMW) business development efforts. His efforts focus on partnering with MMA’s eleven businesses in the UMW to collectively grow revenue, exceed client’s expectations and innovate new risk management and employee benefit solutions.
