Daniel Huckemeyer, Principal and Director of Programs, brings more than 25 years of workers’ compensation underwriting experience to MMA Programs. Leveraging this experience, Dan’s primary role is to maintain profitable results while the company sustains its rapid growth. Dan has a proven track record serving in senior underwriting officer positions at “A” rated national insurance carriers. His experience includes managing large books of loss sensitive and guaranteed cost business while maintaining impressive loss ratios.
Prior to joining MMA Programs, Dan was the risk management casualty underwriting officer for Crum & Forster’s Western Region based in Los Angeles. Before that, he was Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Zenith Insurance Company in Woodland Hills. Earlier in his career, he was regional vice president of risk management for the Argonaut Group in Chicago and an underwriting director at the St. Paul Companies and Travelers in Los Angeles.
Dan graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in business management. He also attended Travelers’ Underwriting School, setting the foundation for the disciplined underwriting approach that he practices to this day. Over the course of his insurance career, he has assisted in the development of predictive modeling, triangle analysis, excess analysis, loss rating and risk identification, selection, assessment, and pricing. Dan is well-versed in California workers’ compensation and consults with the executive actuaries at the WCIRB to gain further insight on California workers’ compensation trends.
With his extensive underwriting experience and history of developing successful collaboration, Dan fulfills a critical role in the continued growth of MMA Programs.
