Mario Paez is MMA’s National Cyber Leader. In this role, he is responsible for providing extensive product knowledge, supporting the MMA regional cyber leaders to set the overall vision and strategy of MMA’s national Cyber Center of Excellence, and develop best practices to proactively grow MMA’s cyber footprint.
Prior to taking on this role in 2021, Mario served as Director of Cyber and Technology Errors & Omissions (E&O) for the Upper Midwest region, located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He specializes in management and professional liability insurance with a focus on technology errors & omissions, professional liability and network security & privacy liability insurance coverages.
In this role, he assists in developing Cyber/Technology practice strategies, and provides consultative services, market negotiation, policy analysis and placement, contract review, and claims advocacy services on behalf of clients. He assists clients with analyzing professional liability and network security risks and provides risk management consulting for a variety of industries focusing on risk transfer and breach response solutions.
Mario has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, the last 15 as the National Practice Leader and Advisor in the Technology & Professional Risk Practice at USI Insurance Services (legacy Wells Fargo Insurance Services). Prior to joining USI Insurance Services, Mario was an underwriter at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies in the Executive Protection Practice (Minneapolis, MN) and also spent time as the National Assistant Product Manager for Cyber Risk at a global insurance company.
He speaks on various panels relating to the topics of professional liability and network security & privacy liability for all industry classes. He has spoken on behalf of RIMS (Risk & Insurance Management Society), Lexis Nexus, ACI, PLUS (Professional Liability Underwriting Society), Hispanic National Bar Association and numerous national industry associations. He also conducts seminars on behalf of our local and regional offices. In 2017, he was also recognized by Insurance Business Magazine America as a Hot 100 award recipient.
Mario received his certification as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Mario also received his Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU) designation from the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).
