Mary Setter is a senior vice president of employee benefits and carrier relations for Marsh & McLennan Agency. She helps clients by deploying strategies that create better health care consumers, assisting with compliance and regulatory issues including health care reform, and designing benefits plans that balance costs with employee concerns.
Mary started the employee benefits practice in 1996 for RJF Agencies, which was acquired by Marsh & McLennan Agency in 2011 and became its upper Midwest regional headquarters. The first female and employee benefits partner of RJF, Mary has been instrumental in growing the department ever since. She continues to serve middle-market clients in multiple industries while also overseeing the benefits carrier relations for the region. She is on the Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) advisory board, is active in the National Association of Life Underwriters (NAHU) and is involved with other carrier advisory boards.
Outside work, Mary is involved with several community organizations, including Caring & Sharing Hands and University of St. Thomas Foundation. She is a past board member of the Twin Cities marathon, and has completed 10 marathons.
