Steve Gillen, CSP, ALCM – Executive Vice President, Commercial Lines Division – is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all commercial lines operational functions including oversight of the loss control and claims departments. Prior to joining J.W. Terrill, Steve was with Ascension Health (the largest non-profit healthcare system in the country) from 1993 – 2003 where he held positions of increasing responsibility including Director-Loss Prevention, Executive Director-Risk Management and Vice President-Risk Management. In these roles, Steve was responsible for loss prevention, claims and risk financing programs for the entire system.
Steve was a senior risk management consultant with Sedgwick James from 1990 – 1993, where he assisted clients with safety and loss prevention programs focusing primarily on workers’ compensation for multiple industries.
Steve obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Occupational Safety and Health from Illinois State University. Mr. Gillen also holds the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals and the Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America. He is a member of the Associated General Contractors (AGC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers (ASHRM) and a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). Steve is an authorized OSHA outreach trainer and is also a licensed producer in the State of Missouri for property and casualty insurance.
