Wayne Pages has led the actuarial and underwriting team at Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) since 2007, and has been an actuarial consultant in the employee benefits industry for 25 years. Wayne consults with our largest clients analyzing claims trends and forecasting health care costs for large group health plans, either on a fully-insured or self-funded basis. Wayne’s areas of specialty include pricing analysis, reserve setting, determining demographic risk profiles, and determining optimal medical/pharmacy networks. Wayne helps clients set their budgets by modeling projected health care costs under various plan design and contribution scenarios. In addition, Wayne is responsible for providing benchmarking analysis in order to compare the competitiveness of a group’s plan design, rates, and contributions against the benchmark norms of MMA’s in-house proprietary database.
Prior to joining MMA, Wayne was a Director in Specialty Actuarial Services for Anthem, where he was primarily responsible for forecasting and setting reserve levels for 5 million dental and vision members. Wayne was also an Assistant Vice-President for Keenan & Associates primarily focusing on self-funded medical plans for clients in the hospital and medical group industry. Finally, Wayne worked at Watson Wyatt (now Willis Towers Watson), where he performed pension and retiree medical actuarial valuations for large clients.
Wayne holds a master’s degree in actuarial science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an undergraduate degree in business from California State University, Dominguez Hills. In addition, Wayne is an Associate with the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
