About This Event
Join MMA GROW for an unforgettable event that celebrates our differences and challenges us to re-examine our notions of diversity, teamwork and living with trauma.
Vallie Collins was a passenger on US Airways Flight 1549. She survived that flight’s landing on New York’s Hudson River in 2009, and now travels the country to share her story.
Vallie will share her key learnings from the flight, rescue and aftermath. This includes her eyewitness account of how the passengers and crew of Flight 1549 came together to help each other survive a high-stakes emergency situation.
We were male, we were female. We were corporate CEOs, and we were housewives. We were Buddhists, we were Muslims, we were Christians and we were atheists. We came from all walks of life.
Following her experience, Vallie was diagnosed with PTSD. She credits empathy for helping her persevere with this condition, and for allowing her to believe that “every day is a lucky day.”
