As businesses continue to move through the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, Marsh & McLennan Agency (MMA) is looking ahead to helping employers get back to business. Join Marsh & McLennan Agency and our Compliance Center of Excellence as we dive into the recent regulatory and compliance changes. Our session will focus on guidance issued by the U.S. Labor and Treasury Departments affecting group plan administration.

Our discussion will include:

  • Good faith relief for plans from the timing requirements for many disclosures and notices and relaxed electronic delivery rules
  • The suspension of plan administration deadlines for certain employee/participant rights
    • COBRA election and payment, the requirement for participants to notify the plan of certain COBRA qualifying events, and updated model COBRA forms
    • Mid-year election changes due to marriage, birth or adoption, the loss of other group health coverage, and certain Medicaid/CHIP events
    • The time to file claims and appeals, which can have unexpected effects for health care flexible spending accounts
    • The time to request external review for a denied claim
  •  Limited filing extensions for federal Forms 5500, 990, and M-1
