The path to healthier drivers and lower insurance costs
Heidi Orstad
A review of 73 studies performed by Occupational and Environmental Medicine found that “Truck driving is associated with enforced sedentarism, long and irregular working hours, lack of healthy foods, social isolation and chronic time pressure. Strong evidence was observed for truck drivers to generally exhibit poor risk profiles including obesity, hypertension, high blood glucose, poor mental health and cigarette smoking.”
Sobering findings indeed.
