Florida agency receives FDA authorization to import prescription drugs from Canada

On January 5, 2024, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized Florida’s Agency for Healthcare Administration’s drug importation program, allowing Florida to move forward with its plan to import certain drugs from Canada for certain state-run programs. This Alert addresses the FDA’s limited drug importation program, the scope of Florida’s authorization, and potential roadblocks to the successful implementation of the program.
